The 100 orchards promoted project has ended by the Club of Rome in coordination with the Carrefour International Foundation, which was developed in schools and institutions throughout the country.
The project, which began in April, It included theoretical-practical training for more than 200 teachers from 107 institutions, an implementation stage and the monitoring of educational agroecological gardens with the objective of accompanying and strengthening said institutions and teachers in what food security and sovereignty means, benefiting more than 33 thousand people.
107 institutions from 11 provinces participated in the project -Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Jujuy, Neuquén, Río Negro, Salta, Santiago del Estero and Tucumán - adding, between all of them, more than 5,100 people including students, teachers and families from the educational community who participated in the assembly and implementation stage of each garden.
The first stage of virtual training was carried out in articulation with CeSus where more than 200 teachers from different institutions acquired over several encounters all the knowledge necessary to develop the design, implementation and maintenance of the garden at school and other institutions.
During the implementation each school and institution received kits of gloves and envelopes with seeds of 18 different species and gardening kits. And in addition, each institution made, together with the trainers, a list of the needs for inputs, tools and materials to assemble their garden.
Over the months each space received the accompaniment of provincial coordinators, the CDR team as well as volunteers from Carrefour came to help in the work days.
Adding wills and resources, today there are more than 100 institutions that have an agroecological garden and teachers trained to carry it out, promoting food security and sovereignty, educating the youngest in the future that the earth needs, strengthening community ties and articulating between companies, organizations, institutions, families to make it possible.
